The Leo Full Moon is exact at 4:33pm Pacific on Friday, heightened by the magnifying energies of the Lunar Eclipse (which will be visible from the East Coast of the United States for the duration of the event). In sum? This one's a Big. Deal. Read on for all the details, plus sign-by-sign downloadable guides to maximizing the potential of this potent energy.

How Eclipses Work

I've included much more insight into the effects of eclipses — as well as insight for each of the twelve signs — in The Moon Guides, but here's a quick review. On a general level, you can liken eclipses to the closing of an old chapter and beginning of another. Eclipses occur when the Sun and Moon align with the Nodes of Fate (which demarcate the two poles of the Earth-Moon ecliptic axis) and as such, provoke events and circumstances that knock you back on course.

Another eclipse fun fact? Changes initiated or undergone during eclipse periods have a a tendency to stick, requiring that we make permanent modifications to accommodate those shifts.

These re-calibrations can manifest as barely noticeable, or may be supremely disruptive, depending on how far we've ventured from our life's true course. As the Moon and Sun only align on the ecliptic for only two four to six week periods during the year, the effects they create together can be a bit of a wild card (though of course you can look to the houses the eclipse lands in your chart to get a preview of possible manifestations).

Leo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

But there's even more to this Full Moon chart. With the Sun and Moon in positive aspect to Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus, this lunar eclipse packs a powerful charge. We have a massive opportunity (Jupiter) to break down barriers and individually create (Moon in Leo) revolutionary change (Uranus in Aries) that is supported and capable of standing the test of time (Saturn), for the benefit of our friends and extended communities (Sun in Aquarius). What's more, the Moon, Jupiter, Uranus, and Saturn are all located in fire signs, with the Sun in Aquarius is fanning the flames to brighter and brighter heights. In sum:

THIS IS ASTROLOGY CAPABLE OF FUELING EXTRAORDINARY,
TRULY LIFE-ALTERING CHANGE WITH SUPREME EASE AND SPEED.

The most important thing to understand here is that whatever change emerges for you at this time, it's bringing you into greater harmony with your deepest self. This is something Aquarius knows better than any other sign in the zodiac:

CHANGE IS THE LIFEBLOOD OF TRANSFORMATION.

Work to employ each event, situation, or adjustment that greets you now as an opportunity to bring more of your true self into the world. The world needs your creativity now more than ever: let the energy of Friday's lunar eclipse stoke the embers of transformation. Let this energy bring you closer to your essential nature, and create more fuel for bringing more of your true self into the world around you.
