The Libra Full Moon is exact on Monday, April 10th at 11:40pm PT, bringing the tension between Self and Other to a peak, and kicking off Sunday's Mercury retrograde station with a dramatic bang. The Moon Guides are live with sign-by-sign guidance into ways to work with this energy. Read on for more details!

The Sun in Aries, sign of the self, opposing the Moon in Libra, sign of partnerships and relating, grants us an opportunity to release those habits, routines, relationships and vices that jerk us out of our innate sense of balance.

The Sun is closely conjunct the generation defining Uranus-Eris conjunction, an aspect exacting an electrifying influence on identity and personal power. Eris is a chaotic, disruptive energy; Uranus is an awakening, activating, shocking — and is also associated with new technologies. With their conjunction occurring in Aries, they tell a story of breakthroughs and breakdowns, fragmentations and re-alignments in how we define ourselves — and how that rapid identity evolution plays our across digital media.

This is an ongoing alignment active throughout the year (and will become super-activated again in just a couple weeks as Mercury meets up with this aspect for 2+ weeks during its current retrograde) so you won't find any mend-all solutions during the Libra Full Moon; but you may find some key elements necessary to accessing the larger whole of who you're becoming.

This energy requires grace. It requires artfulness. And it requires humility. But there's also a component here about standing your ground in your convictions — particularly those you feel most passionately about.

What are you willing to fight for? What are you willing to risk violating social norms to achieve, defend, or bring into the world? The time has come to decide — and to use that decisiveness as panacea against the chaos of a world in the midst of a monumental identity crisis.

So how best to use the energy of the Libra Full Moon?

Own what's yours.
Release everything that's not.

There's tremendous power in self-knowledge, even if you don't have the whole thing figured out yet. If we remain faithful to what we know, deep within, to be true — about ourselves, not about what other people can or should do or be — those fragments can lead us down a whole new path of discovery and opening, relationships and insight.

Let the shocks and sudden insights promised over the next  three weeks blossom in a space of calm and dignity. At this moment, the purpose of shock is simple: to initiate us into more complete manifestations of our truest selves. The only safety we possess in the moment? The choice to say yes. To affirm our experiences. The choice to flow into and through it and trust that what's coming up is moving you into closer alignment with your right environment. Your right relationships. Your right life.

If you need help with this energy, The Retrograde Project can help you find clarity over the next few weeks. It's going to be an epic session — we'd love to have you join us.

It's Time for a New Mercury Retrograde Paradigm

What if we turned Mercury retrograde into a conscious process? A new approach working to working with Mercury retrograde.

JUST ADDED: FREE GUIDE TO MERCURY RETROGRADE THIS APRIL

Don’t sign any contracts. Back-up your computer. Double-check your spelling. Double-check everything. Leave extra time for travel. Watch out for mechanical failures. Don’t commit to anything. And, for heaven’s sake, don’t even think about doing anything remotely important, complex, brand new or innovative.

No wonder everyone dreads the arrival of Mercury retrograde.

Maybe it's the Sagittarius in me, but you guys?

There are enough things to fear in this world — and I'm feeling pretty close to done with being told to be afraid. To get smaller. To watch out. To protect myself.

It's time to find a new approach to working with Mercury retrograde.

Because in an increasingly loud and chaotic landscape, where and how we focus our attention is paramount.

Which is one reason why I think the old approach to Mercury retrograde — you know, the one that points fingers about the lost keys, bemoans the location-based weather app that can't even pick the right continent, and blames every late arrival, dropped call, and missed email on something or someone else — is falling out of alignment with our collective evolution.

It's time to engage with the raw materials of our lives with intentionality. With generosity. And from a space of empowerment and life-affirming presence.

I believe that when we focus on growth, on our own conscious evolution, we experience a magical way of being in the world. And, if we stay in that place of focus, the events in our lives speak to us — even the ones in which we're late for work or hit with an overdraft fee.

I believe that when we focus on finding and creating meaning, on fostering awareness, the world entices us deeper into who we yearn to become:

EMPOWERED. INTENTIONAL. CONNECTED. VITAL. PRESENT. JOYFUL. BALANCED.

So what if instead of bemoaning the inconvenience of Mercury retrograde, we simply permitted it to unfold and show us what it has to offer? What if we let down our defenses and allowed our lives, in all their messy inconsistencies, to happen — and, in the process, to teach us something? I guess what I'm trying to ask is this:

What if we turned Mercury retrograde into a conscious process?

Because I don't know about you, but I'm looking for ways out of my habitual patterns and postures of victimhood, not to construct new reasons to crawl back inside them.

I'm looking for ways to use every available opportunity to take responsibility for my life and my experience of it — even when it throws me a curve-ball. Even when I don't like it. (Though seriously, universe, how many iPhones can one person break?)

I want to make conscious decisions based in personal integrity, intuition, and awareness — not fear. And I’d much rather be fully engaged, fully committed, fully in the flow of life and risk fucking the whole thing up than hang out on the sidelines for eternity waiting for just the right set of conditions.

I want my relationship to astrology, my relationship to the universe, to open me up to new possibilities, to layer on meaning and new ideas and textures by the fistful, not close me down and restrict my range of motion.

I believe in owning my experiences in all their complexity — and I want an astrology that's limber enough, that's big-hearted enough, to have room for that.

So here's my commitment to you:

I promise never to tell you to be afraid.

And I promise always to use cosmic technologies in ways that help point you toward your own liberation.

I think it's time to believe that, against all odds, something exciting always waits on the other side of honesty, integrity, and action — no matter what the transit.

It's time to have faith that the world has something to teach us  — even if that lesson is difficult.

It's time to stop waiting.

Virgo Full Moon: The Sacred is All

The Virgo Full Moon is exact at 7:54am Pacific time on Sunday, turning our awareness to the ways in which our daily habits and practices engage with our higher creative and spiritual ideals. For an in-depth look at how to work with this energy based on your Sun and/or rising sign, the Moon Guides are live and available for download!

Here are four ways to work with the energy of the Virgo Full Moon.

Balance clarity of purpose with acceptance

Virgo energy is highly analytical — which makes it particularly susceptible to missing the bigger picture of unity and interconnectedness. Pisces energy, on the other hand, is more connected to flow, dissolving the boundaries that divide — though it risks getting swept up, taken advantage of, or otherwise lost in the current. This Full Moon presents us with the challenge of balancing the need to practice forgiveness and acceptance while staying clear about our purpose and values.

Practice mental housekeeping to avoid self-defeating habits

The Full Moon opposite Chiron connects our emotional nature with our sense of being somehow flawed or wounded. Chiron represents a particular form of wound: if we face it, acknowledge it, accept it, and integrate it, we find ourselves with tremendous power to use our experience to share valuable wisdom with those around us. And if we don't? It'll manifest itself again and again through self-defeating habits and behaviors that get in the way of our ambitions. With Mercury in Pisces square Saturn in Sagittarius right around the time of the Full Moon, there's energy available now for the kind of sober thinking and mental discipline we need to begin this healing conversation.

Find stability in your body

With Virgo an earth sign, physical practices are particularly effective now at bringing calm and peace to our mental state at this time. If this Full Moon brings up anxiety for you, a twenty minute walk in the outdoors can bring expanded awareness, leading to intuitive solutions.

Engage in physical acts of service

How successfully have you brought transcendence, an element of higher purpose or meaning, into your daily work? Uniting action on the physical plane (Virgo) with spiritual principle (Pisces) is key to finding harmony and deeper satisfaction with our work now. Work to bring your creative vision into alignment with something higher.
